Kitchen Adventures

I was bored a few weeks back, before the holidays ended, and decided that Daddy should teach me how to make Rosti since he's been wanting to make it for some time after our visit to Marché at Vivocity. It's really simple and easy, except when you have to flip the whole pancake of potato shreds but Daddy is an expert at these antics so I left that to him!

We used russet potatoes I think, I rmb Daddy saying that we need to use starchy potatoes so that the shreds will stick to one another to make the Rosti.

Grating it after peeling and soaking them in water.

One bowl of grated starchy potatoes ooo time to get toasty in the pan!

Piling it up to fill the area of the pan, this was fun because I like the sizzling sounds oh aren't you sexy potatoes!

Flatten it and let it cook on one side first.

Look ma, it's browning!

Daddy doing the flippity-flip for the Rosti so it's get nice and toasty on both sides woohoo love my photog skills n_n

Letting the excess oil drain, and...

TADAH!!

Add a dollop of sour cream with chives and add any additional sides like smoked salmon slices or a bratwurst and you're ready for a hearty meal!

Daddy and I had a lot of fun making this and eating it but cleaning up was a bitch because oil splatters were everywhere. But I think I'm beginning to appreciate cooking a lot more because my whole family is in the F&B business and it would be weird to totally suck at it. On another note, I kinda do suck at it because I tried to make dinner for the Parentships and apparently it was not a classy affair. (Think electrical short-circuits, Mom's tooth chipping when she bit into my fish, accidentally burning the microwavable box in the microwave)

But it's all about practice, isn't it!

Till then, xx
